Amudagondapalli, a village near Berigai in Hosur, Tamil Nadu is the birthplace of Shri Om Prakash, the founder and Dharmakartha of this temple.
Opposite his house stood a Sri Rama Bhajana Mandir, where devotional songs and bhajans were regularly conducted. From a young age, Om Prakash loved bhajans and devotional music. He often spent his time at the Bhajana Mandir and sometimes even slept there because he enjoyed its peaceful and spiritual atmosphere.
As the years passed, his interest in Sri Rama bhajans grew stronger. To serve Lord Rama through music, he learned bhajan songs from his Guru, Shri Annayappa Dasalu; Harmonium from his Guru, Shri Brindavanam Nagarajulu; and Carnatic vocal music and keyboard from Shri Vidwan P. Subramani of Bengaluru. His devotion to Lord Rama and his passion for music became an important part of his life.
In 2011, he founded Sri Rama Sangeethalaya, a music school in Bengaluru, where he began teaching Indian classical music to students from India and abroad.
In 2015, Om Prakash visited Bhadrachalam Temple for the first time with his Guru. He was deeply moved by the divine blessings of Lord Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy, the holy Godavari River, and the peaceful atmosphere of the temple. During his visit, he spent time in Dhyanam (meditation) and sang the sacred keerthanams of Shri. Ramadasu and Saint Tyagaraja Swamy. During this spiritual experience, he felt the divine presence and grace of Lord Sri Rama so deeply that he could not express it in words. This divine experience increased his devotion to Lord Rama and became a turning point in his spiritual journey.
In 2016, Om Prakash visited the Bhadrachalam Temple again. During this visit, he experienced the same deep sense of devotion and spiritual bliss that he had felt on his first visit. This made him wonder how one could experience the same profound spiritual connection twice in the same place
Later, in 2016, Om Prakash began renovating the 150-year-old Sri Rama Bhajana Mandir and the Pushkarini (temple pond), which is over 200 years old. He funded these renovation efforts using the income he earned from teaching music to students from India and around the world. At the same time, he started planting trees along roadsides and in nearby areas, believing that caring for nature is also a form of service to God. Through these efforts, he helped preserve sacred places, protect the environment, and carry forward the tradition of Sri Rama bhajans for future generations.
In early 2017, Om Prakash used to stay and sleep at the Bhajana Mandir. During this period, he repeatedly had dreams in which he was guided to build a Sri Rama Temple in his village. According to these dreams, he would eventually succeed in building the temple, although he would have to overcome many difficulties and challenges along the way. The dreams gave him confidence and assurance that, despite all obstacles, the Sri Rama Temple would one day become a reality.
Later in 2017, Om Prakash made a storng decision to build a Sri Rama Temple in his village at any cost. One day, he gathered the villagers and his friends and shared his vision of constructing a temple dedicated to Lord Sri Rama.
He initially selected a site in the village and began preparations for the construction. He arranged a water supply by drilling a new borewell and cleaned the area to make it suitable for the temple project. However, due to unforeseen difficulties and local issues, the construction work had to be stopped.
A few months later, he made a second attempt to build the temple at another location. He once again began clearing and preparing the land and was nearly ready to perform the Bhoomi Pooja (groundbreaking ceremony). Unfortunately, the project was halted again because of land-related issues.
Finally, in 2020, Smt. Kavitha and Sri Manjunath, along with Smt. Sarada and Sri Narayanan, came forward and voluntarily donated land for the construction of the Sri Rama Temple. Their generous contribution became a major turning point in making the temple project a reality.
In 2021, devotees and well-wishers joined together and officially formed the Bhadragiri Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy Devasthanam Seva Trust. Trustees and volunteers came together with a common goal of building a Sri Rama Temple. In the same year, land cleaning and foundation work began.
In May 2022, the Bhoomi Pooja for the temple was performed along with trustees and villagers, and the basement work was successfully completed. The temple construction gradually moved forward with the support of devotees and volunteers.
In April 2023, Om Prakash was diagnosed with Stage 3 lung cancer. Due to his medical treatment and chemotherapy sessions, the temple construction work came to a temporary halt. The doctors gave him a life expectancy of two years, as Om Prakash had progressed to Stage III lung cancer. However, after completing six rounds of chemotherapy, he regained strength and resumed the temple construction work with renewed determination and faith in Lord Rama.
To date, Om Prakash has contributed more than ₹1 crore to the temple project, funded entirely through the income he earned by teaching music to Indian and international students.
In 2025, the Trust started the 108 Village Prachara Yatra with Sri Rama Dhanasu. As part of this spiritual mission, the team visited villages, conducted bhajans, distributed Rama Koti books, spread devotion to Lord Rama, and collected donations for the temple construction. This initiative helped connect more devotees to the temple project and inspired many people to participate in this divine mission.
At present, nearly 80% of the temple construction work has been completed. The construction of the Prakara Gopuram and the four temple Gopurams is currently in progress. With the blessings of Lord Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy and the support of devotees, the temple is steadily moving toward completion and stands as a symbol of devotion, service, faith, and community effort.
